Much Natter Signalling

The Much Natter interlocking was the first interlocking designed using the now standard 'Relpol' 4 pole change over relays and was installed to replace the manual control by the 'Station Master'

The interlocking has been expanded to over the years and now has space for 146 relays, of which 143 are in use

The area of control is station area and its approaches, and consists of the following lineside equipment:

2 semaphore signals with a single arm and a colour light shunt signal and associated route indicator

1 semaphore signal with two arms and a colour light shunt signal and associated route indicator

 2 colour light running signals

1 colour light shunt signal with a route indicator

3 power operated point ends with normal and reverse detection and with manual control override switches

1 spring point end with normal detection

 3 lever miniture lever frame

 3 platform departure panels

Movements are initiated by the Station Master 'pushing' the lever for the platform the train is waiting to depart from, this lights the LED on the departure panel indicating that the train is permitted to move, the driver then presses the button for the movement required. THe route is then set, and signal is set to proceed.

Shunting movements are initiated in the same way, each shunt signal has multiple routes and to ensure the driver knows which route he has requested the associated Matrix Route Indicator will display:

A for Arrivals

D for Departures

B for the Bay
